Will this be possible in the future? What do you think?

but fun aside, i don't think it will be possible in near future because the amount of information that one would have to gather and transport is simply too big

I think if the Large Hadron Collider opens a quantum rift, then we may well see attempts to use this for transportation of some sort.

Not in the near future, but eventually. After all, its FTL travel.

Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying "End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH," the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Through quantum entanglement, maybe. I think that attempting to surpass the speed of light is the wrong approach.

What I mean is, a telerporter is by nature an FTL device. If you can be in one place one moment, and somewhere a long way away not long after that, you will have traveled very fast. Speed equals distance over time. So if you can go very very far almost instanly, you may be travelling faster than the speed of light.

I thought relativity makes that impossible Huh

Which is probably why they haven't been invented yet.

I believe we can only travel into the future as fast as we are now. We can not travel into a future in which it does not exist yet. I suppose we could go back in time. But I have a model of time travel based on TIVO. You can go into the future, but like live television, You'd have to pause it and wait for it to record then jump ahead.

Quantum Teleportation is not FTL, it is at best Light Speed as they use photons (light) to transfer the information.

Theres too much data transfer and storage required in the decoding and recoding of a human. I doubt it'll be possible until we have the ease of solar travel and that's even if we achieve that.

Teleportation has been achieved for Photons and Electrons (And I have head that they can do whole atoms too - but can't locate the articles I read to confirm this).

See here for an overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_teleportation
